Current Condos for Sale at 5100 Monument
Situated on the city/county line (between Richmond and Henrico), 5100 Monument represents one of Richmond's first opportunities for high-rise living outside of the downtown district. First developed in 1961 as apartments, this 12-story building continues to stand as a bit of an anomaly-situated among mostly single-family homes and one- to four-story commercial buildings. Originally developed by Rockville, Md.-based Tower Companies (also responsible for the nearby Willow Lawn shopping center), in 1985 this building was revamped by the 5100 Monument Avenue Partnership (Washington-based John J. Mason and Stuart A. Bernstein) into 184 owner-occupied condo units.
While the building is known for its minimally styled and affordably priced condos (including mostly two-bedroom, approximately 1,000 sq. ft. units, priced between the mid $100s and low $200s), the surrounding area is noted for its safety and convenience. With at least one major grocery store, gyms and a plethora of shops and restaurants right next door (at Willow Lawn) and the shops at Patterson and Libbie just a few minutes away, there's plenty to draw on, much of which is in walking distance. Amenities aren't chic, but they do include swimming pool, exercise room, community room, library and a rooftop deck, as well as a 24-hour receptionist.
